- My name is Derek Martell. The Lord has given me a beautiful wife whose name is Elisabeth, and two precious children whose names are Isabelle 7 years old and James 5 years old. I served as the bi-vocational pastor of Hidalgo Baptist Church, a small SBC congregation in Jasper County IL for two years. Prior to relocating to Illinois in 2006 I had served as a bi-vocational associate and youth pastor at Faith Independent Baptist Church. I have an Associate degree in Ministerial Training and a Bachelor degree in Pastoral studies. I have well over ten years experience in various ministry positions. During my years in Maryland I worked with the teens and young adults and really enjoyed my position. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have a great deal of energy and enthusiasm. Witnessing to those around me is second nature and I love to see people not just saved but growing and faithful to church and to Jesus. For the past four years I have been a machine operator at a local factory and filling in preaching for area churches and waiting on the Lord's leading and direction for the future. My desire is to be in full time ministry so I can put all of my energy and effort into the Lord's work.
