For of whom a man is overcome.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

Vanity is; Empty pleasure; vain pursuit; idle show; unsubstantial enjoyment.
Man; in scripture, the word man or mankind is denoting male, and or, female.
A man is overcome by those things that corrupt, deceive and entice a man to indulge in untruths, false doctrine, false and deadly lifestyles and lust of his own making. A man is overcome by the promises of wealth, fame and fortune, when he thinks more of himself that is due him. When he thinks that he is making things better for all, by accepting unrighteousness, he actually is deceiving himself and others. The sin of vanity was what brought Satan down and he led 1/3 of the angels into their own destruction by overcoming them with lies and promises of great glory.

Not everything that man says is lawful is righteous or safe. Many laws today that are called lawful are a danger to a man’s body and soul, some laws kill the innocent and send the message that man has the right to choose who should live and who should die, which brings in destruction and separates the man from the truth. In today’s society we have seen laws being created for political gain, popularity ratings and profit. A Christian who knows the truth must not turn again to these elements that corrupt the body and soul. We are the light of the world and if the light goes out all would be lost.
How then does Satan, who has no power, deceive multitudes into living a life of corruption? He overcomes them with lies and deceit.
Overcome; to conquer; to vanquish; to subdue; to gain the superiority, to surmount; to get the better of.

Political correctness is one of Satan’s weapons against the body of Christ, the popularity of some men and women blind many who are weak in the truth of the Gospel. Some make themselves into a god, a harbinger of evil, a deceiver of the weak minded. False prophets of peace and unity, which bring about division and conflict. The Bible tells us that we cannot be partaker of any sin, neither can we support, endorse or aid those that bring in heresies. (The Scriptures being the standard of faith, any opinion that is repugnant to its doctrines.)
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”

There are many today that believe that just because they say they are Christians they are saved no matter what lifestyle they live. They have been overcome by lies and deceit. Living outside the doctrine that was delivered to us by Christ simply means that they do not know Christ or the Father. If we say we are saved and still commit sinful acts, still live contrary to sound doctrine and Gods commandments, we are lost and in need of salvation.
We must remember that what God called an abomination in the Law still holds in the New Testament that was delivered to us by His Son. For Jesus stated that He and the Father are one, He spoke what the Father spoke, He knows what the Father knows and condemns what the Father condemns. We are God’s creation, He has every right to create or destroy what He created. Each and every man is immortal, for the body of all shall perish but it is the soul that shall endure, either in the joy of Heaven or the punishment of hell.

Satan knows the scriptures better than any man; he will sometimes use the scriptures to overcome the weak in faith and knowledge, by teaching misinterpretations as the basis for allowing certain sins to become acceptable. Satan tried this tactic with Jesus and failed, for Christ knew the true meaning of Scripture. These misinterpretations become doctrine to some and lead them down a path that will lead them to destruction. Refusing to believe the truth they have become consumed with the pleasures of the flesh and the pride of the eyes.
Sin in the Bible is referred to as the works of the flesh, which include these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. The Bible puts it simply; anything that is not of faith is sin, a transgression of God’s word, His commandments and laws.

Too many people have become consumed by doctrines that are neither from God nor are sound in their teachings. Anything that we use as a basses of living becomes our doctrine therefore it becomes our religion, such as atheism. Yes, atheism is a religion; these people have been consumed by Satan into believing that God does not exist, and since this is a doctrine it becomes their religion.
Each and every lifestyle that man indulges in is choices, for God is not the author of evil or confusion. Evil comes from the rejection of righteousness and the rejection of righteousness comes from deception. God, who is, the epitome of righteousness, cannot lie, cannot sin and will never create sin. Man makes sin his choice, when any man says that God created him to live in sin, he is a liar and the truth is not in him. This man is consumed by the lust of the flesh, seeking to please the flesh and not the spirit.
