Getting to The Root of Our Problem: Sickness - Session 17 - Parts F & F-1 - 8-25-2017

IV. Words of Encouragement – Session 17 - Part F

Before I close this teaching, I want to share some words of encouragement with you all. No matter what we go through, God is good! What we go through has nothing to do with God; it does not change who He is! As I stated in the message, God DOES NOT put sickness on us; sickness is part of the curse from Adam and Eve sinning in the Garden.

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (biblegateway.com – English Standard Version [ESV]).

Romans 8:1-4 tells us: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.[aFor the law of the Spirit of life has set you[b] free in Christ Jesus from the law   of   sin   and   death. 3 For God   has   done    what    the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin,[c] he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (biblegateway.com – ESV).

From Romans 6:23 we learn that the wages of sin is death but the FREE gift of God is eternal life IN Christ Jesus; eternal life ONLY comes through Jesus and the ONLY way a person will receive God’s free gift of eternal life is to accept Jesus as his or her personal Lord and Savior!

IV. Words of Encouragement – Session 17 - Part F-1

From Romans 8:1-4, we learn if we are in Christ Jesus (born again), we will not be condemned, since we have eternal life. We also see that the law of the Spirit of life has set us free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death; we are set free by Jesus from sin and death! Jesus condemned sin in the flesh by coming in the flesh, in the likeness of sinful flesh; fulfilling the righteous requirement of the law (vs 3-4) – Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for us, so we could become the righteousness of God! Jesus gave up everything so we could live and not just live a mundane, ordinary, mediocre life, but an abundant life (John 10:10)!

When Jesus was crucified, we were crucified with Him; if you have  accepted Him as your personal Lord and SaviorGalatians 2:20 tells us, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (biblegateway.com – English Standard Version [ESV]).

Since we have been crucified with Christ, we should not have a problem doing what Romans 12:1-2 says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[b] Do not be conformed to this world,[c]but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect [d] (biblegateway.com – ESV).
