God created time but He lives outside time; He is not limited by time or any other thing He created. He uses time for His purpose. He can restore time.

A very present Help is a timely help; a suitable and adequate help for the purpose at the time needed. We established from scriptures that God is that “…very present Help…” (Psalm 46:1). Because God created time, His help will always be timely.

When a believer decides to stand for and with God, he or she is standing for and with “…a very present Help in time of trouble…”. It is important to know that waiting for challenges to come before looking for help from God is the undoing of many “so called” believers. A student that waits until he or she gets into the examination hall before studying is already a failure waiting to manifest to the world. Just like a soldier or a sports person that waits for the war or challenge before preparing for it is already a failure.

Any believer that will be a beneficiary of the “…very present Help…” provision of God must have Him before the challenge.

The popular story of the three Hebrew boys confronted with the seven-times-heated fiery furnace did not begin with the furnace; it started with their resolve to serve the only true God as against bowing to a graven image. They refused to bow to the graven image of the king; they dared the threat of the king to have them roasted in the fiery furnace. The Bible says:

“Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.” – Daniel 3:14-17

The king made real his threat; the trio were thrown into the seven-times-heated fiery furnace. Imagine if help was delayed for just one second, the story would have been different. But glory be to God, just like Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego said in faith, God (a very present Help in trouble) was right there before they got into the fiery furnace. As a result, the fire had no power over them, there was no smell of fire around them. The Bible says:

“And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellers, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.” – Daniel 3:27

No matter who or what seems to be standing against a believer, God – “…a very present Help in trouble…” is ever on duty to establish his purpose of victory and abundant life for the believer (John 10:10).
