Those chosen have the opportunity to accept their availability of service . This doctrine is called election , which is God’s plan to bring salvation to His people and His world . The Bible uses words like choose , predestinate , save , ordain , and call to indicate that God has entered into a special relationship with individuals and groups through whom He has decided to fulfill His purpose within the history of salvation . God’s providence allows Him to guide human history to accomplish His purposes even when allowing human freedom and human sin . Election affirms that God is personally involved in our history . God’s personal presence accomplishes His saving will . It is the creator God who calls you to abide in Him and his chosen you to go into His world and bring forth fruit . As God’s elected people , we represent Christ’s physical presence in the world , endeavoring to carry out God’s ministry of calling a lost world to Himself . Christ has chosen us as His disciples to bear fruit for Him by living obedient lives and leading others to know Him . This kind of fruit remains for all eternity . As we bear this kind of fruit we must never forget how important it is to love one another . As the apostle John reminds us again : God is love . Whoever lives in love lives in God , and God in him ( 1 John 4:16 ) . What does God want us to do with our lives ? Abide in Jesus , as Jesus abides in the Father . As we abide in Him , we are spiritually transformed into His likeness .
