STAMPEDE FOR JESUS!

WHAT IN THE NAME OF HEAVEN IS THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE?

The Friday after Thanksgiving, as I watched the local News, the network showed HUNDREDS of people - no THOUSANDS of people all over the United States of America stampeding and stomping over each other to the point of serious injuries and even being hospitalized in order to get a "DEAL" - many stood in line for several hours to be at the doors when the stores opened at 3 o'clock in the morning, bearing harsh weather conditions and danger.

WOULD THESE PEOPLE STAND IN LINE FOR SEVERAL HOURS, IN THE SNOW AND RAIN TO GO WORSHIP JESUS! WOULD THESE PEOPLE CAUSE A STAMPEDE TO GO SIT AT THE FEET OF OUR LORD? WOULD YOU?

I have nothing against commerce - nothing against a good bargain, within reason, and nothing against holiday shopping. What I "DO" have a problem with is people stampeding each other out of greed and selfishness and even hurting others to get what they want.

That is NOT what Christmas is about folks. And I am ashamed that our society has come to such overwhelming selfishness and greed. We have lost the true meaning of the holiday - to celebrate the birth of our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST and to share HIS LOVE with others. The sharing of gift is supposed to be symbolic of giving something of yourself to someone else in a SELFLESS, NON-SELFISH manner. Sure we all get wrapped up in the holidays - but I plead with you as my brothers and sisters in CHRIST - please do not lose the true meaning of the holiday - cherish your family that GOD BLESSED YOU WITH - LOVE ONE ANOTHER - do something "unselfish" and spread the gospel to all nations.
