Isaiah 53:7

Verse: “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.” http://esv.to/Isa53.7

My Commentary: Another thing that happened to Jesus during His crucifixion, He was oppressed and afflicted but He did not say a word; Jesus knew God had His back! Jesus demonstrated here what we should do when we are oppressed and afflicted; hold our peace and let the Lord fight our battle. But nawwww, WE want to handle things! All we do when we handle things, is make a BIG mess and end up crying to God to get us out of the mess WE created! Then we have the audacity to get mad at God, if He don't fix it quickly! We should have let God fixed it in the beginning, then we would not have been in the mess! Let's do better Saints!

Isaiah 53:8

Verse: “By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?”  http://esv.to/Isa53.8

My Commentary: After they had their trial of Jesus, they took Him away by oppression and judgement; they had already decided Jesus was guilty before the trial - they just went through the motion of a trial to justify what they were doing!

Isaiah 53:9

Verse: “And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his." http://esv.to/Isa53.9

My Commentary: 1 Peter 2:22 says Jesus committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth; yet they saw Jesus as being wicked. The rich man, Joseph, who was a disciple of Jesus, asked Pilate for Jesus’ body, and buried Him in his new tomb (Matthew 27:57-60).

Isaiah 53:10

Verse: “Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.” http://esv.to/Isa53.10

My Commentary: Jesus was God’s plan to redeem mankind back to Himself, after Adam sinned. Jesus had to be crushed by the full weight of sin; Jesus gave Himself as an offering for sin, so He could give us eternal life – abundant life. Let’s not waste the life Jesus died for us to have; let’s be obedient to God and love Him with all our soul, mind, strength, our heart – EVERYTHING within us.

Isaiah 53:11

Verse: “ Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge  shall  the  righteous  one,  my  servant,  make  many  to  be accounted   righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.” http://esv.to/Isa53.11

My Commentary: Jesus carried the burdens of our sins and made us righteous because He is righteous; we are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians  5:21; Romans 3:22)Again, Jesus bore our iniquities; “It is finished!” Let us walk in the freedom Jesus died so we could have; Jesus has made us free so we are free indeed – now and in the future – NOTHING that is formed against us will ever prosper because Jesus has taken care of EVERYTHING!

Isaiah 53:12

Verse: “Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death  and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.” http://esv.to/Isa53.12

My Commentary: Jesus poured out His soul to death, was numbered with the transgressors, bore our sins, and is making intercession for us; Jesus is our Advocate (1 John 2:1)! Jesus has done everything that needed to be done for us and now we are free; free to worship and serve God our Father and wait for Jesus to return for us, His Bride. In the meantime, we are to be obedient to God, put Him first in our lives, seek things from above and keep our focus on Him; regardless of what is happening around us. The Holy Spirit is here to help us; all we have to do is ask Him.

I pray this teaching on Isaiah 53 has been a blessing to you, by reminding you what Jesus has done for you and reignited your faith in God.
