Who Will Cleanse Us Of Our Guilt And Shame ?
Jesus will cleanse us from our guilt and shame and cover us with His righteousness . ‘’ We are all like an unclean thing , and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags ‘’ ( Isaiah 64:6 ) . Only when Jesus gives us His righteousness are we truly in our right mind . Like blind Bartimaeus , we must rise , throw aside our ragged robes , and come to Jesus ( Mark 10:50 ) . An Old Testament prophet uses this very image to picture how God covers our sins: ‘’ He…spoke to those who stood before Him , saying , Take away the filthy garments from him . And to him He said , see , I have removed your iniquity from you , and I will clothe you with rich robes ‘’ ( Zechariah 3:4 )
