WITH EVERY GOD'S GIVEN OPPORTUNITY COMES GOD'S-GIVEN RESPONSIBILITY

WITH EVERY GOD'S-GIVEN OPPORTUNITY COMES GOD'S-GIVEN RESPONSIBILITY

To every God's given opportunity, it is divinely designed purposely to be an opportunity to be responsible unto our generation and be a blessing unto people around us. Every opportunity goes with responsibility. It is sad to notice that the moment God gives us an opportunity, we ignorantly or deliberately shut the door of responsibilities unto people that such opportunities meant for. Yes, somebody is saying, some people would like to take advantage of me and so.... Yet, it is not an excuse to turn God's glory to self.

The people told David, YOU SHALL BE OUR RULER. "Also, in time past, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in, and the LORD your God said to you, 'You shall shepherd My people Israel, and be ruler over my people Israel.' Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD... " (1 Chron. 11:2-3) This was clearly seen in the life of David that he did not misused the opportunity to be responsible to God's people. He did not break the covenant he made with them the moment he got to the throne. No wonder, the bible says, he was a man after God's heart. The bible confirms that David served his generation before he died (Acts 23:36).

The people of Israel pledged themselves as subjects to David. The people looked unto David for military leadership and personal protection. He himself was faithful in his service to the people of Israel. He was not tribalistic or among the people of mind-set, "me and my family". He was a shepherd to the whole house of Israel. When God gives us opportunities to help others, we should see it as a responsibilities to serve people in our church, community and family. The attitude of 'it is me and my family' is against the purpose of God's given opportunities. You can even ask yourself, from God's -given opportunities presently enjoying by me, how many beneficiary have I raised through it? How many can boast outside my immediate family that if not because of me, I wouldn't have made it? Think deeply about it. Many covenants have been broken on the altars of 'yet to make it'. Someone may says, I have not arrived yet to think of other people....yes, this message is only for people who knows in their heart, 'have not been God, I wouldn't have been where I am today'!

We need to realise that with the position of leadership comes a responsibility to "shepherd" God's people
