In the book “Stop Dating The Church”, Josh Harris popularized the analogy that church membership is akin to marriage.
As such, when things become difficult, according to Harris, one should not set out in search of greener pastures but instead endure through the misery.
So does his resignation as pastor at the scandal-ridden Covenant Life Church constitute a form of abandonment akin to divorce?…

Dearly Beloved,
GIVE GOD THE GLORY!
"On an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took his seat on the rostrum and began delivering an address to them. The people kept crying out, ‘The voice of a god and not of a man!’ And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died" (Acts 12:21-23 NASU).
King Herod Agrippa I who reigned between A.D. 37 and 44 died a mysterious death. The writer of…

Every believer, regardless of age or length of time as a Christian, is a unique treasure from God with a story to share, a unique discipleship tool/ Thus, one role of the Church is to encourage its believers to step out and comfortably share what God has done with family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers .

Think of five people you can share your own faith walk story with this month. Encourage those involved in small groups in your church to also share their faith walk stories with five people this month. Such sharing will not only help those who share to see the evidences of transformation in their lives, but it will also be a witness of God's power to others.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of Unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God ( Rom. 15:5-7 ) .

A Facebook theologian has commented in agreement with Christian broadcaster Chuck Swindoll that we should never pray for God to take a loved one home to eternity.
It is contended doing so can apparently derail His sovereignty.
Apparently, if we believe that He is sovereign, we should know that He is fully capable of taking us home when He believes that the time has approached.
Isn't that formulation itself an affront to God's sovereignty?
For if God is sovereign…

"Offer to God, thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most high. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me" (vv. 14,15). The psalmist was talking about God's attitude toward material sacrifices in this passage. The people had come to God's court and said, "You can't judge us. We have been offering you sacrifices." And God said, "I will not reprove you for your sacrifices or your burnt offering which are continually before me. I will not…

If we look at the history of Israel, we discover that when the king had an intimate relationship with Gog--the nation prospered ; but when a king neglected his relationship with God--the nation suffered. The same can be said today of our relationships. Keep your and your church's primary focus on knowing and becoming like Jesus and all other relationships--marriage, family, friendships , church,, work, acquaintances, community, and society--are encourage to become more Christlike. May the…

In an exposition of Mark chapter 3, it was observed that Christ's first miracle after the commissioning of the Apostles was the casting out of a demon followed by the healing of Peter's mother-in-law.
The Lutheran seminarian insisted that this symbolically represented the precedence of the spirit over the human tendency to emphasize the body.
The expositor lamented that such a characteristic was the result of the sin…

God uses the family unit as a cocoon for spiritual transformation. Cultivating such an environment not only gives children early glimpses of God's amazing love and strength, but it also provides fresh opportunities for you and others in your church to learn God's ways even as you seek to guide children ( see Deut. 6:6-7 ). We are commanded to teach our children about God's commandment.

God gives the church great flexibility in the way it does things --but not in what it does . The words of Jesus in Matthew 28 make the mission of the church clear : The responsibility for disciplining rests with the church and all believers . In other words , your church is given the instruction to take the spiritual initiative for cultivating an environment of love , trust , and obedience to God ,all for His glory . It is not an environment that pushes cataclysm--sudden or drastic…

Dearly Beloved,
I MUST TELL JESUS
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall” (Psalm 55:22 NIV).
The author of the hymn “I MUST TELL JESUS”, Reverend Elisha Albright Hoffman (1839-1929) was pastor of a church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, United States, when he visited a woman who had gone through many sorrows and afflictions. The woman was discouraged because of her predicament. With heavy heart she asked Reverend Hoffman what she…

God gives his children His Word so that they will know His heart and the wisdom He has to share . His Word is the firm foundation on which believers are to establish their unique relationship with Him . The Word of God connects us with Jesus by demonstrating how Jesus lived and how He loved--and how God wants us to live .To the Jews who had believed him , Jesus said , If you hold to my teaching , you are really my disciples .Then you will…
