God Is…I Am… Devotional

 

Day 61 – 3/27/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God is my Great High Priest

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

HEBREWS 4:14-16, NIV

 

RENEWING THOUGHT:

In the Old Testament, under the old covenant, the High Priest went before God annually to offer up the blood of an unblem­ished lamb for the sins of the people. He interceded for them. Jesus is your Great High Priest. He is the Author, Pioneer, and Captain of your salvation. He went before you, tasted death, and purchased your healing and restoration through His suffering. Now He is at the right hand of God interceding for you.

By His blood, you can approach God's throne of grace with confidence. Because of His once-and-for-all-time sacrifice, you are made holy in the sight of God. Through the cross, Jesus established a new covenant. You have been declared righteous. Do not let defeat, depression, or anxiety rule your life any longer. Take your place as a redeemed Believer before God. Rise up! Come boldly.

God has freely and abundantly given you everything you need to overcome difficulties, and even thrive in this life. With Jesus praying for you, the Holy Spirit strengthening you, and the Word of God upholding you, nothing is impossible.

Therefore, having boldness to enter the Holiest, and with Jesus as your High Priest, draw near to God in full assurance of faith.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

Jesus’ priesthood, which is according to the order of Melchizedek, is one which blesses and never curses us!

Day 62 – 3/28/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

I Am a Member of God’s Royal Priesthood

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 PETER 2:9, NLT

 

RENEWING THOUGHT:

Scripture declares that you are God's "special possession." Ponder that for a moment. The God of the Universe has dedicated you to Himself, for Himself.

What's more, He has chosen you to be a part of a special tribe of people upon the earth. A priestly tribe where you have direct access to God and can connect others to Him, and Him to others, through your intercession. You are royal; you have been chosen and adopted by the King. He has delegated His authority to you.

Why did He do this? In part, so that "you may declare His praises.” You are called to be a walking, talking, goodness and love. Through you, and millions of God’s royal priests, He is making known among the nations His marvelous works and His glorious name in all the earth.

Make this truth a key part of your identity. You have been called out of darkness and now live and walk in His wonderful light. As royalty, you are one of God's ruling representatives on earth. As a priest of the Most High, you can act as a mediator, connecting others to His love and power-interceding for those who lack the faith or understanding to receive from God themselves. What a privilege!

 

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

You need to fully understand the truth of who God’s Word says you are. When you do, it will empower you to walk away from things designed to trip you up and to make you less than what you’re meant to be. You come to realize that God created your body and mind for more than filth, ungodliness and the trash of this world.
