Irresistible Grace

What does “irresistible grace” mean? It means the love & favor of God in Christ is irresistible in the elect when it pleases God to reveal His Son to them (Gal 1:15-16). It doesn't mean that God drags rebellious sinners to Heaven against their will. This is the lie told by our opponents to prejudice people against what we believe. The power of God’s grace makes the sinner willing to come to Christ. The Bible teaches that all the Father gave to Christ in the covenant of redemption will come to Him (John 6:37). Nothing can prevent the eternal purpose of God to save His people by grace. We sometimes speak of this as effectual calling.
