The other morning I was Pondering about a statement I had heard not to long ago. It came from a gentleman that has been in the Christian faith for well over twenty years. His words stunned me because of his lack of understanding of what it was, that I had really found, or should I more correctly say – had found me. The statement was – “so, when did you find religion? “. “Find religion I said” with kind of a chuckle, “friend, I didn’t find religion, I found God ”

Religion is a set of rules to follow for those that don’t really know God. Those people that see somewhat the results of God, but don’t really know of the intimate relationship a person can have with God. When the God of creation comes into your life for real, I’m here to tell you that changes will begin to occur within yourself and your life. You will find yourself following a way of life because you love it and because you just know that it’s proper. (Notice, I said “find yourself” meaning not even trying) You know these things due to God manifesting his presence daily in your life and walking with you. You don’t just know of God my friends, but rather you truly do know him, and know him well. Once you have been touched by the hand of God, you are forever changed.

Please do not misunderstand me when I speak of the word religion. As all children do, we need a place to begin to study and seek. We need a place to learn and fellowship with others after the same goal; a place where we can learn a basic foundation on which later more will be built. The problem is, so many people simply stop right there and never find the treasure that they could have, if they had just pressed on just a little more. So many people settling for social groups and entertainment rather than souring with the eagles and dwelling in God’s holy presence; they never build anything on the foundation they worked so hard to achieve.

I stated earlier in this article that it was not really me that found God, but rather it was God that found me. Why did I say that? I went to church and fellowship, I went to Sunday school and prayed I studied and searched for truth; doesn’t that mean that I found it? The answer is no, not really. In doing all this, I may have found the truth of God, or at least the foundation as a said earlier. But I hadn’t truly found God himself. “So how do I find God” you ask, it’s easy, simply allow him to find you. Allow yourself to be opened minded. Empty your thoughts and perceptions of how you think things should be, and what it is that God looks like. Open your heart and life, and be willing to accept all that God has for you. Want the things of God with a passion, accept nothing else. Walk with integrity and love and allow him to guild you by obeying his word and listening to his spirit. Trust in love that he is faithful to answer those that honestly seek truth. Be ready to accept it, it may come in a manner unexpected. I leave you with this scripture, John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day”. I pray he draws you this very day my friend.
