TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Dearly Beloved,

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

“To the only wise God be glory for ever through Jesus Christ! Amen” (Romans 16:27 NIV).

The hymn “To God Be the Glory” is well-recognized as a wonderful hymn of praise and adoration of God. It was composed by that famous hymn composer, Fanny Jane Crosby (1820-1915). The hymn is sung mostly in the atmosphere of praises, but its content is more than praises. It speaks volumes about the grace of God. From the beginning, it is clear that…

Mentoring – A way to Discipleship…

When we look at the word of God, we see in numerous times where a man of God linked with another to learn from them and be a partner in what they are doing. Examples are:  Elijah & Elisha, David & Jonathan. Naomi & Ruth  and ultimately learning from the life of Jesus.  He called them one by one and discipled (mentored) them and they go out and do the same. Mentoring is really another term for Discipleship.  Mentoring opens up to accountability (which some of us cringe to that…

Beyond Reasonable Doubt

An important strategy utilized  by defense attorneys is to plant a seed of doubt into the minds of the jury questioning the guilt of the person on trial. This was played out recently in a high profile case of a mother accused of killing her daughter. The job of the prosecutor is to present evidence proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Many today are confused by what evidence rises to the level of reasonable doubt. Here is the official definition of reasonable doubt.

The…

HE KNOWS WHAT HE WOULD DO!

Dearly Beloved,

HE KNOWS WHAT HE WOULD DO!

“Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?’ But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do” (John 6:5-6 NKJV).

At times, it seems as if God does not know what we are passing through, or that He knows but He does not know what to do to rescue us from our predicaments. In fact, many people have concluded that God is… Continue

Christians issue rule book for spreading faith

(Reuters) - A coalition of major Christian churches including the Vatican launched a rule book on Tuesday for spreading their faith that aims to reduce hostility from Islam and other religions to efforts to convert their followers.

The five-page code of conduct, which has been under negotiation since 2005, was unveiled at a Geneva news conference…

Salvation Is Not Free!

Charles de Lint said, "If you are not ready to die, how can you live"? Americans have a great legacy of men and women who freely layed down their life for our freedom. On this Independance weekend I  say THANK-YOU!

I pray every American will take the time to thank at least one member of the Armed Forces for their service. I thank God I live in America, the home of the brave and land of the free. Freedom has cost our nation millions of lives along with broken homes and…

Evangelism and Church Growth

I was given a newsletter titled Gospel Minutes: The Gospel by Proclamation in Minutes of Meditation and the elderly couple asked me to read it and get back with them on what I thought. Being a busy person (arrogant and self-serving), I put it aside and didn't give it a second thought since I had Church Sports Camp to help run, sermons to complete, Sunday School Lessons to prepare, AFJROTC Camps to facilitate, school scheduling, etc....., it was far off the scope.

Today, I decided to… Continue

Is there Reality a place called Hell?

More and more "religious people" are rejecting the Biblical doctrine of hell. They contend that the God of love and mercy could not create such a place as hell and confine man, who is created in his own image, to such a horrible place for eternity.

If there is an eternal hell, you are entitled to know about it to be warned thereby. If the notion of a hell of torment is a doctrine of men, you are certainly entitled to know that. It would be morally wrong to teach the idea of a burning…

What Is Hell Like?

Hell is eternal. According to Matthew 25:46, Jesus said, "and these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal". Romans 16:26, speaks of the everlasting God. Hebrews 9:14 refers to the eternal spirit.

There are four expressions in these three verses to be considered. They are "everlasting punishment", "eternal life", everlasting God", and "eternal spirit". The only difference between everlasting and eternal in our language is a difference in…

Heaven, what will it be like?

The Bible gives us a more complete picture of heaven than we might guess. First, we can take a little look at what heaven won't be.

In heaven, there will be: No power shortages, for God is all powerful; no bumping into things in the dark; no sleepless nights (there is no night there, Revelation 21:25). Nor will there be: Bills; hospitals; bank accounts. In fact, heaven will have: No complaints; no back-talk; no hate; no fear; no crime.

Are you really ready to live in heaven?…

How Does the Devil Control Human Life?

Have you ever felt under attack by a force beyond yourself? Paul was well aware of such an influence when he wrote of the "law in (his) members, warring against the law of (his) mind" Romans 7:23. We are at war with the most formidable foe imaginable. His mission is to destroy our faith in God.

Satan is not some mythical character with horns, tail, and pitchfork. He is very sophisticated and specialized. He is the greatest under-cover agent of all times., Biblical descriptions of him…

The 7 Promises Of God to Man

We are all accustomed to promises. We are also accustomed to seeing them made and broken. Anyone who has lived for a number of years would certainly never lay claim to having kept every promise made. There are many reasons why this is true. Sometimes we forget, sometimes we are negligent, and sometimes it may be due to circumstances beyond our control.

A brokenhearted young lady will often say, "But he promised to marry me". And the answer comes back: "Yes, but I changed my mind".…

Can Faith and Logic Co-Exist?

Can Faith and Logic Co-Exist?  Michael Guillen says "Absolutely".

When he was nine years old, Michael’s dad came home with a paperback book called Nuclear Forces. Not realizing it was a college textbook, Michael read it and fell in love with science. He says the Lord mysteriously put the overwhelming desire on his heart to become a scientist.

“I’d never met a scientist…

True Faith

You do not have faith in Jesus if you love some and hold prejudices against others. God is no respecter of persons, so we should not be either.

James 2:1 My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim that you have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people more than others?…
