After his favorable meeting with Esau, Jacob built an altar to God and called it “God, the God of Israel.” By this he was acknowledging that the Lord was indeed his God. Jacob recognized that Esau’s changed heart was evidence of the power of God at work. Like Jacob, we should watch for and acknowledge God’s silent work in our life and the lives of others.
