Should Wives Love Their Husbands Also?

Ephesians 5:25

Tells husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Verse 28 adds that husbands should “love their wives as their own bodies.” Verse 33 reiterates that “each husband must love his wife as he loves himself.” This passage leaves no doubt about the primary responsibility of husbands to their wives:…

Your Ministry Is Our Ministry

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-16

Ephesians 4:11-12 reveals that all of God's people are ministers. Pastors and other church leaders…

Who Is This Man?

The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

[Mark 4:41]

We don’t know exactly what the disciples of Jesus thought about him in the early stages of his ministry. They had followed him because he was a man of authority and power. It’s likely that they considered him to be the Messiah, the one anointed by God to reestablish God’s kingdom in Israel. But, as Mark 4:35-41 reveals, the disciples really didn’t… Continue

The Messiah, the Son of God

Mark 1:1

This is the Good News about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God

The phrase “Son of God” has a range of meanings. In later Christian theology, “Son of God” points to Jesus’ divine nature as the second member of the Trinity. But the original Jewish sense of Son of God, that which flows from the Old Testament, has to do with royalty.

The “Son of God” was the king of Israel (2 Sam. 7:14; Ps. 2:7; 89:26-27).

This didn’t indicate the king’s divinity, but rather…

Your Work Contributes to the Kingdom of God

Ezra 1:5-6

Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites—everyone whose heart God had moved—prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.

In 587 BC, the Babylonians, under the rule of King Nebuchadnezzar,…

The Wonderful World of Color of God's Wisdom

Ephesians 3:10-11

His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When I was young, I loved watching Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color on television. Though I enjoyed this show while at home, it was better by far at my grandparent's house because they actually had a color…

Walking in our destiny will involve sacrifice

Walking in our destiny will involve sacrifice. How do we overcome the fear of getting started? I know that following God radically and wholeheartedly can seem to be risky! We can know for years what our true destiny is, we can sense the call, yet we make excuses such as: 'When the kids are grown... When the last one leaves home... When I retire - maybe then... But what about my finances? Who will pay my mortgage?'

God wants you to heed his call and show up for duty… Continue

The Audacity of FAITH!

The Audacity of FAITH!

is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the

author and finisher of our faith…

(Hebrews 12:1-2).

God has a unique plan for your life,

different from that of any other living

person. His plans and purposes for

your life are distinct, because He

doesn’t have, has never had, and will

never have a replica of you! You’re the

only “you” that God has and will… Continue

Topic: Calling

Text: Matthew 14:28-32

And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

Are you in dought of…

Why Most We Cry Out to God Morning, Noon, and Night?

Why Might We Cry Out to God Morning, Noon, and Night?

Psalm 55:1-24

Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the LORD hears my voice. He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me. God, who has ruled forever, will hear me and humble them.

Throughout all my Christian life, I have heard at least a hundred sermons or teachings on prayer. I have read countless books and articles on prayer. Most of these…

Peter Disowns Jesus

Then the servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also as with him.” But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.”

Luke 22: 54-62

In early 2012, I was sitting in an east African hotel with my new friend, “E.” E was born into an unreached people group, but along the way had discovered the Good News of Jesus. He immediately converted, the first of his particular clan. It was unheard of, he said, a clanmember…
