I have heard gays argue back to those who call their lifestyle an abomination as follows, I would love to hear any comments:

One Stated:

"In the same book of the Bible that condemns homosexuality (Leviticus) it also states that it is an abomination to eat shellfish, it is an abomination to eat pork, it is an abomination to plant more than one seed in a field, and it is an abomination to wear clothing woven of more than one fabric. We are all sinners, and if you are wearing (mixed fabrics) polyester than in the same list that homosexuality is a sin, you are a sinner as well.

Have you feasted on shrimp recently?

Or had bacon?

No one is free of sin. Judge not lest ye be judged. If my only sin is that I'm gay then so be it, at least I'm not trying to judge everyone else for the Lord. That is His job."

Here is another comment on the position of the early church towards military service.  It looks like it was during and after the age of Constantine that the church's view towards military service changed:

What View Did Early Christians Have of Involvement in the Military?

"The early church, having a realistic view of the necessity for governmental authority but no illusions about its primary loyalty to Christ, didn’t approve Christian military involvement. Only after Constantine’s conversion made Christianity the favored religion in the empire did a destructive process begin that merged the religious authority of the church with the political and judicial power of the state. Soon Christians could no longer easily distinguish between the authority of Christ and of Caesar–usually with tragic consequences."
