Have you studied the lives and words of the many prophets in the Holy Bible? According to Wikipedia, a prophet is an individual who is claimed to have been contacted by the supernatural or the divine and serves as an intermediary with humanity, delivering this newfound knowledge from the supernatural entity to other people. But in the USA alone we have what seems to be an astronomical amount of faiths, and within each faith, we have those claiming to be a voice from God. The question is, are they hearing from the one true God, or maybe perhaps, can they be hearing from something not so holy?

There are denominations popping up everywhere. Many of which claim their particular faith is the only true faith. Having individuals within their faiths that also having claimed a direct message from God sought out and began entirely new denominations. How do we know if they are real? How do we know if the message they speak is indeed from God, and not from a demonic source or even self proclaimed? Is there a way to know for sure? The answer is yes, using the Holy Bible as a reference we can know how to judge and measure any claimed prophet, and also the faith in which they began if any. If the prophet who began the work is found to a false prophet, would not the faith in itself also be false?

In Deuteronomy 18:21-22 we read “And if thou say in thine heart, how shall we know the word which the LORD hath NOT spoken? When a PROPHET SPEAKETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath NOT spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt no be afraid of him, In short what this scripture means is – if the events spoken of by any claimed prophet do NOT come to pass then that prophet and the words they speak are false, and should not be contributed to God , because the true prophet only speaks the words of God, and his words are never incorrect. Upon knowing this, we can determine whether or not what we stand on is solid, by measuring the accuracy and integrity of those which originated the work in the beginning.

But you ask, “what about now, how do we know if someone is real now”? This is important due to the bible states that false prophets will indeed appear. Again in Deuteronomy 13, 1-3 we read, If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams. Meaning, no Prophet of God will lead people any other place, but to the one true God and his holy Word. The Word of God also states in Matthew 7:16 “By their fruits ye shall know them” Meaning the way they act. How do they carry themselves? Are they arrogant and prideful or humble and peaceful? Does their character and the way they walk line up with the words coming out of their mouths?

Get into the Word and study. Listen to the words from his true prophets, they do still exist. Learn to discern true and false. But always remember the words of our father in Heaven when he says “touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm”. (Psalms 105:15)
