The scripture often quoted by individuals, “Greater is He in me than that that is in the world” is stated nonchalantly without thinking out who or what is really in thee. Babies that are still having their food softened, as well as those that have grown to a mature age in Christianity quote the scripture just the same. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world,” 1 John 4:4 (KJV) is not a scripture that should be taken lightly.
The Holy Bible should be eaten in it’s entirety in order to capture its full contextual meaning for what God meant for it to be so that the children of God can walk in fullness of faith.
The deepness of the verse starts at the beginning when the Apostle John declares through inspiration that “Ye are of God.” One that is using the text must know their position and relationship with God in order to partake of the fullness of the context. In order for one to be of God, it means you believe in Him, you have partaken of His word, and have a covenant relationship with Him. You are not adapted to the things of the world. You are equipped and fashioned by Him. You have a bond with Him. You love Him. You worship Him. You spend quality time with Him.
At times when I hear a person declare 1 John 4:4, I ask the question, “What is Proverbs 3:5?.” In most cases they can not answer. Sometimes if asked a basic Christian scripture such as John 3:16, they do not know the answer. Yet baby and so called mature Christians alike casually apply the scripture “greater is He that is in me, than that that is in the world” not knowing they are still partially ascribed to the world.
If it is that “greater is He that is in me” applied to everyone then there would be no reason for it have an effect on the worldly cosmos nor for a condition to be met. So “ He” that is in the scripture must equal to God. With that said then God must be in the person that is taken application to the scripture, and that the individual is saying is inside of them.
It is written in the book of John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” according to the King James Version. This signifies that Jesus is the written and living Word. So in order to have God with us (Emmanuel) and in us the Word of God must be present in us. The Word is what is more powerful than that in the world. The Word of God is what is needed to overcome the world. The Word in the Holy Bible is considered also to be Truth and Spirit.
When the Word is in man, and it is activated in faith it becomes rhema, and there is a distinct power that exist to penetrate climates, atmospheres and dimensions. Man is then capable of overcoming that which is in the world, and to have dominion and power on earth.
As children of God we must practice our faith by studying the Holy Bible in it’s entirety to grasp the fullness of what God intended for it to be in His will and covenant for us. Get the “He” in you to be greater than that in the world so that you may overcome.
