Iron sharpening iron can bring vast, quality, and quantitative results of the glory of God’s power into the Christian environments today. It is imperative that children of God utilize His words to equip and edify each other in order to stay productive and empowered for the work of God. It’s important to meet people of our own beliefs and faith, to pray together and share together, just as well as it is for Christians to share the Holy Bible with others not having the faith.
In the Holy Bible, Proverbs 27:17 tells us “Just as iron sharpens iron, a person sharpens the character of his friend”. This is a reminding statement that those that are called out by His name must search the Word together for the common good of each other.
One iron can be a file established to sharpen a two-edged sword. Each time the file penetrates against the two-edged sword friction increased and a spark arises. A charge is generated as the opposites attract and also the two-edged sword become sharpened. Each can play a major role in reflecting and admonishing the Word of God, but both must play a role in generating energy between each other by the reception of the Holy Spirit. The iron is being used as a symbol of the man taking the strength and power of the Word to share and ignite each other.
In (2 Timothy 3:16-17) it is declared that “All scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work”. This may signify that all participants of the same type of iron acknowledge the Word in its entirety for conviction, correction, training and equipping. So if we take two cast irons and sharpen them together it will create the same evidence thereby increasing the sharpness of the Word.
According to Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart,” the Word can reach into the inner parts of man. It also discerns thoughts and the intents of the heart when the heart is not hardened. Therefore as the file is placed at a 30 degree angle to sharpen the knife, it will need to take gentle strokes in order not to break the knife. Delivery of the Word through man is likewise, in gentleness, purity, and love.
Iron sharpening iron is a continued process until the edges of the blade is in its purest state. It can then penetrate any object in boldness and clarity under the power of the Holy Spirit. Sharing the Word of God with each other can bring each member of the body of Christ into the fullness of the Lord’s will for our lives.
