MY SUNDAY COMMENTARY, 4/7/13
TOPIC: THE GREAT COMMISSION

Matthew 28:16-20 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshiped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Acts 1:4-5, 8-9, 12-14 
4-5 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, said he, you have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. 

8-9 But you shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

12-14 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

COMMENTARY: After Jesus resurrection for forty days, he was seen by over five hundred people, including his disciples. Prior to his ascension he told the disciples, that they must continue his work on earth. Jesus said, “Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:” But, like Jesus, they needed to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. He instructed them to go into Jerusalem and wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit. The disciples, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers went into an upper room; and with unity began to pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The same commission given to them is the same commission given to us today nothing has changed. But, sadly enough many in the church have forgotten their assignment concerning the Great Commission, and have replaced it with church programs. While people are dying without knowing Yeshua, (Jesus) as Savior and going to hell. It is time to get about our Father's business, HE THAT WINS SOULS IS WISE!
