Is Resistance Futile?

I loved the Star Trek Next Generation series. Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Star Ship Enterprise was a bald middle aged man with a British accent and piercing eyes. He was self confident and comfortable in his skin. The Star Ship Enterprise cruised the galaxy exploring planets and confronting hostile life forms. One of the most formidable enemies of the Enterprise was a human/machine like being know as the 'Borg'. The Borg was a collective controlled by of a single intelligence source. Every individual Borg was controlled by central brain. The Borg's plan was total domination of the Universe by assimilating and controlling all life forms by making them a part of the collective. The Borg's mantra was, "Resistance is futile."

Captain Picard fiercely fought the Borg but one day he two was captured and turned into a Borg. The story of the Borg is frightfully similar to what is happening in our nation. We have a small group of so-called intellectuals using persuasive rhetoric with promises of a Utopian society. Many are being assimilating into their fold who want to be cared for and coddled from cradle to grave. America's Borg tell us they alone understand what people really want. The American Borg disregard the Constitution and plot and connive to pass laws that are dismantling our Republic.

America's Borg demean and dismiss anyone who challenges their plans. Those who claim faith in God are called dangerous, bigots, Bible thumping backwater hicks. How dare they suggest faith in God made America great. Our Judeo Christian roots oppose dictatorial governments around the world. America is a bastion of hope for all oppressed people. Even though America's Borg are in the minority by a large percentage, they push their agenda on the majority with reckless abandon. They ignore dialogue with those who disagree with them. They treat all dissenters with contempt and disdain. America's Borg remind the unconvinced majority twenty-four hours a day through the government controlled media that "resistance is futile."

I am encouraged that the God fearing, patriotic, hard working, law abiding, informed masses are uniting with one mighty voice to remind the American Borg that "resistance is not futile"!

Dr. Stokes, Thanks for the encouragement. I just write what God places in my heart. I sometimes wonder if anyone is reading or cares. But if I can reach at least one and ignite a fire in their soul my labor is not in vain. Like yourself writing is a passion and in some respects a lost art today. Keep serving Christ.
