"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." What did Jesus mean? Christians should see sin the way God sees it and should seek to treat it the way He treats it. Those who cover sin or defend sin certainly have the wrong attitude. We should not only mourn over our sins but we should also meekly submit to God. We are often puffed up & prideful like the Pharisee in Luke 18:11:…

"Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth." The statement is a part of the "Beatitudes," a portion of the very well-known sermon of Jesus called The Sermon on the Mount. The New American Standard Bible (NASB) takes a little of the edge off by not using the word “gentle” instead of "meek," but not very much. It reads: "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit…

Many Christians have a problem with meekness. We look down upon the Mormons, JWs, Buddhist, Muslim, etc… as if Jesus died only for those who claim to be Christians. If we aren’t others centered in our thinking, we’re not obedient to Christ. Jesus doesn’t want any to perish but many will. Will you have to answer to the judgment for not spreading the Gospel to the non-Christians?…

“Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth”--Mt 5:5. When we recognize our sinfulness & mourn over it, we develop meekness or humility. Meekness does not mean thinking less of yourself than of others, nor does it mean having a low opinion of your own gifts. It means freedom from thinking about yourself one way or the other at all. Can we focus on others so that…

"It has induced more persons to follow Christ, it has inspired more believers to loyal service, it has presented to scholars more difficult problems, than any other book that could be named."--Pastor Charles Erdman on the Gospel of John.

"That I may know Him, & the power of His resurrection, & the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death"--Phil 3:10. We must know that Jesus may let others be honored & put forward. He may keep you hidden in obscurity because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory which can only be produced in the shade. He may let others be great but keep you small. He may let others do a work for Him & get the credit for it but will…

"That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death"--Phil 3:10.Others may boast of themselves, their work, their successes, their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing & if you begin, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself & all your good works. Others may be allowed to succeed in…

"For it is by His grace that we have been saved through faith, & this faith was not from you, but it is the gift of God"--Eph 2:8. We normally talk about grace however, as a rule, we truly know very little about it. We hear what the world calls grace, i.e. "a grace period" a period of time to get things right however; this is a warped definition & isn't really grace at all. Grace not only frees us from the payment interest but of the principal as well. Grace flows like a river…

O Lord, I have heard a good word inviting me to look away to You and be satisfied. My heart longs to respond, but sin has clouded my vision until I see You but dimly. Be pleased to cleanse me in Your own precious blood and make me inwardly pure, so that I may with unveiled eyes gaze upon You all the days of my earthly pilgrimage. Then shall I be prepared to behold You in full splendor in the day when You shall appear to be glorified in your saints and admired in all them that believe. In…
