What did Jesus mean?

http://www.kgbpeople.com/doc-thomas

"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." What did Jesus mean? Christians should see sin the way God sees it and should seek to treat it the way He treats it. Those who cover sin or defend sin certainly have the wrong attitude. We should not only mourn over our sins but we should also meekly submit to God. We are often puffed up & prideful like the Pharisee in Luke 18:11:…

Who Shall Inherit the Earth?

http://www.kgbpeople.com/doc-thomas

"Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth." The statement is a part of the "Beatitudes," a portion of the very well-known sermon of Jesus called The Sermon on the Mount. The New American Standard Bible (NASB) takes a little of the edge off by not using the word “gentle” instead of "meek," but not very much. It reads: "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit…

Problem with Meekness

http://www.kgbpeople.com/doc-thomas

Many Christians have a problem with meekness. We look down upon the Mormons, JWs, Buddhist, Muslim, etc… as if Jesus died only for those who claim to be Christians. If we aren’t others centered in our thinking, we’re not obedient to Christ. Jesus doesn’t want any to perish but many will. Will you have to answer to the judgment for not spreading the Gospel to the non-Christians?…

The Meek

http://www.kgbpeople.com/doc-thomas

“Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth”--Mt 5:5. When we recognize our sinfulness & mourn over it, we develop meekness or humility. Meekness does not mean thinking less of yourself than of others, nor does it mean having a low opinion of your own gifts. It means freedom from thinking about yourself one way or the other at all. Can we focus on others so that…

The Word Was

"In the beginning was the Word, & the Word was with God, & the Word was God"--John 1:1. The Lord existed from all eternity. As far as the human mind can go back, the Lord Jesus was there. He was never created; He had no…

Gospel of John

"It has induced more persons to follow Christ, it has inspired more believers to loyal service, it has presented to scholars more difficult problems, than any other book that could be named."--Pastor Charles Erdman on the Gospel of John.

Rainbow Agenda

All pastors and Christians,

How are we going to speak the truth in love on this issue. Alex really hit this on the head. Let's gird up for battle and be ready to give a defense of the Gospel's teaching on this matter. All sin is an affront to a Holy God and Christ came to save sinners and not the already righteous!…

Hidden in Obscurity

"That I may know Him, & the power of His resurrection, & the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death"--Phil 3:10. We must know that Jesus may let others be honored & put forward. He may keep you hidden in obscurity because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory which can only be produced in the shade. He may let others be great but keep you small. He may let others do a work for Him & get the credit for it but will…

The Power of His Resurrection

"That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death"--Phil 3:10.Others may boast of themselves, their work, their successes, their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing & if you begin, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself & all your good works. Others may be allowed to succeed in…

Meditate on These Things II

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue & if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things"--Php 4:8. We must understand that Christian meditation is more than using the name of Jesus as a mantra or formula. It's a dynamic process that changes your thought life as the first step in changing the rest of your…

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue & if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things"--Phi 4:8. We must be meditating & concentrating on the Lord. Christian meditation is about God. It's meditation that will change your life because you focus on God & when you focus on Him, He changes you.…

Crucified with Christ

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; & the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me & gave Himself for me"--Gal 2:20. This is a powerful statement that many don't get! We fail to realize how important the relationship that we have with God the Son truly is. The event we call Easter is more than Christ dying for my sins--Jesus rose that first Sunday morning & now He lives! He lives in my…

The Depths of the Riches

"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?" “Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?”--Romans 11:33-35. In this world we have today, many people are…

Do Not Be Deceived

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life"--Gal 6:7-8. The "Carnal Christian" continually sows to his flesh & has never been saved; he has never been born again. Why? Because under Holy Spirit conviction we're given the grace to repent & in repentance we learn to hate sin, abhor it, to loathe ourselves…

Grace...What does this word mean?

"For it is by His grace that we have been saved through faith, & this faith was not from you, but it is the gift of God"--Eph 2:8. We normally talk about grace however, as a rule, we truly know very little about it. We hear what the world calls grace, i.e. "a grace period" a period of time to get things right however; this is a warped definition & isn't really grace at all. Grace not only frees us from the payment interest but of the principal as well. Grace flows like a river…

Saved?

The Philippian jailer asked Paul & Silas, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”--Acts 16:30. They responded, “Believe in the Lord Jesus & you will be saved”--Acts 16:31. Believing in the Omnipotent One is it! Christ died for sinners & being saved by grace through faith is the key. Christians cannot get caught up in easy believism & as followers of Christ, we must stay away from & discourage "Instant Christianity."  Instant Christianity tends to make the faith act the…

Prayer for Today

O Lord, I have heard a good word inviting me to look away to You and be satisfied. My heart longs to respond, but sin has clouded my vision until I see You but dimly. Be pleased to cleanse me in Your own precious blood and make me inwardly pure, so that I may with unveiled eyes gaze upon You all the days of my earthly pilgrimage. Then shall I be prepared to behold You in full splendor in the day when You shall appear to be glorified in your saints and admired in all them that believe. In…

Spoke in time past to the fathers

"God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds"--Hebrews 1:1-2. We must go beyond the mere idea of God that is so often held & get to the person of God beyond the creed & theory. We must have reality, instead of going through life trying to love an ideal & be loyal to a creed. Then I think a new world…

Identity

Every age has its own characteristics. Right now we're in an age of religious complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead are programs, methods, organizations & a world of nervous activity activities which occupy time/attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart. ... all testify that we, in this day, know God only imperfectly & the peace of God scarcely at all. If we would find God amid all the religious externals, we must first…
